Life Tribute to Late Management Teacher Prof. CK Prahalad (1941-2010)!

Noted Management Teacher & thinker Prof. CK Prahalad was an iconic intellectual in business studies, his ideas & ideals inspired solutions to global ailments and problems. His work was noted and respected, mainly his work on the Base of the Pyramid Approach in management policy.  

He was a popular teacher. When he died, he was serving as a Professor of Corporate Strategy at Michigan Ross. He also worked as a distinguished fellow at the William Davidson Institute, he also had an important advisory association for the institute's Base of the Pyramid research work. 

Prof. Prahalad was instrumental in developing a key thinking for solving the problems of poor & poverty via his innovative approach which was very respected in Indian institutions. His books became famous and his work was cited many times for various noted reasons. 

It must be noted that Prof. Prahalad twice was honored as the world's most influential business thinker, as near as recently as October 2009, and also famously co-authored a noted article in the Harvard Business Review titled "The Core Competence of the Corporation."

He worked with India’s development agenda and India@75 issue. His work was adopted by CII in India. This concept ignited a passion for India@75 and its various facets in the growth story.

Today the Base of the Pyramid approach is regularly quoted & discussed in management literature, and using inclusive means in business is also respected. The bottom-down pyramid can see hope via works like these as poverty alleviation is a collaborative task and needs participation.  

He had a long list of awards- some of them are -  

1. Faculty Pioneer Lifetime Achievement Award by the Aspen Institute.

2. Italian Telecom Prize for Leadership in Business and Economic Thinking.

3. Lal Bahadur Shastri Award for Excellence in Management presented by the President of India, etc.
